Job Title: Manager – Business Development (Carbon Portfolio Management)

Job Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Manager for Business Development in the Carbon Portfolio Management sector. This role involves identifying new business opportunities, managing relationships with key stakeholders, and leading the execution of carbon credit transactions. The ideal candidate will have expertise in carbon markets, sustainability initiatives, and a proven track record in driving revenue growth through client acquisition and partnership development.

Primary Responsibilities :

Key Responsibilities:

  • Market Research & Opportunity Identification: Actively research and identify new business opportunities in the carbon market, including new clients, partnerships, and emerging projects. Stay updated on trends in carbon markets, regulatory changes, and innovations in carbon credits and offsets.
  • Client & Stakeholder Management: Build and nurture long-term relationships with key clients, stakeholders, and regulatory authorities. Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, delivering tailored carbon solutions to meet their sustainability goals.
  • Carbon Credit Transactions: Lead efforts to structure and execute carbon credit transactions, collaborating with trading platforms, clients, and internal teams. Develop pricing strategies and assist in contract negotiations to maximize revenue.
  • Market Monitoring & Research: Continuously monitor market fluctuations, regulatory changes, and competitor activities to identify potential impacts on carbon pricing and trading opportunities.
  • Business Strategy Development: Analyze potential market entry strategies and recommend plans for expanding into voluntary and compliance carbon markets.
  • Project Management: Work closely with project managers, technical teams, and external partners to ensure efficient execution of carbon projects, from inception to completion.
  • Client & Project Deliverables: Ensure timely delivery of project milestones, manage client expectations, and address any project-related issues as they arise. Maintain oversight on project timelines and financial targets.
  • Reporting & Performance Tracking: Monitor the progress of business development initiatives and provide regular reports for senior management on pipeline status, revenue forecasts, and key performance metrics.
  • Collaboration with Internal Teams: Collaborate with internal teams (finance, legal, technical) to provide comprehensive solutions to clients, addressing both technical and financial aspects of carbon trading.
  • Networking & Representation: Attend relevant industry conferences, seminars, and networking events to represent the company and build a robust network within the carbon market.
  • Partnership Development: Actively seek collaboration opportunities with other firms, governments, or NGOs to enhance the company’s visibility in the carbon sector.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Experience: 5-7 years of experience in business development, client acquisition, and revenue generation, with prior experience in managing carbon projects, carbon credit transactions, or sustainability initiatives.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Environmental Science, Sustainability, Economics, Finance, or a related field. A Master’s degree (MBA or relevant field) is a plus.
  • Key Competencies:
    • Proven track record in business development and client relationship management
    • Familiarity with international carbon markets, multinational clients, and climate finance projects
    • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders across different sectors (regulatory bodies, private entities, environmental organizations)
    • Strong analytical skills for evaluating market trends and project performance
    • Ability to structure and execute carbon credit transactions effectively
