Job Description:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Carbon Trader to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of environmental markets, particularly in the carbon sector, and demonstrate the ability to provide tailored investment solutions for clients. As a Carbon Trader, you will play a key role in managing investment portfolios, advising clients on market trends, and driving business development initiatives in the carbon space.

Primary Responsibilities :

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide accurate investment advice to clients, ensuring alignment with their sustainability goals.
  • Evaluate financial reports and manage clients' investment portfolios effectively.
  • Stay up to date with the latest developments in the financial markets and carbon trading sector.
  • Regularly update clients on the status of their investment portfolios and potential new opportunities within the carbon market.
  • Source new clients through networking, cold calling, and business development activities.
  • Adapt investment strategies based on market conditions and client needs.
  • Collaborate with sustainability experts to understand carbon offset requirements and deliver customized solutions.
  • Develop leads from clients with Net Zero targets and build long-term relationships.
  • Measure and track business performance, client satisfaction, and process effectiveness.
  • Lead business establishment initiatives from the ground up, developing a continuous commercial pipeline.
  • Build a network of referral partners, industry associations, and government agencies to aid in business development.
  • Demonstrate a strong interest and commitment to sustainability and environmental market mechanisms.
  • Stay informed on nature-based solutions (NBS) and renewable energy credits (RECs, I-RECs), with expertise in market functionality and price trends.
  • Conduct field visits within India and internationally for market due diligence, evaluating eco-systems for NBS, RE, and other carbon credit types.
  • Experience with carbon emissions reduction verification methodologies and standards.
  • Work collaboratively with a nimble team to support business growth.

Job Requirements:

  • Experience: 3–6 years in a relevant field (carbon markets, finance, or sustainability).
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, or a related field.
  • Location: Chennai
  • Salary Range: 7,00,000 – 9,00,000
  • Contract Duration: Permanent
  • Travel: Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally for field visits.

Desired Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong understanding of financial market operations and environmental markets, specifically voluntary carbon markets.
  • Proficiency in IT, mathematics, and data analysis.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to evaluate complex information and make sound investment decisions.
  • Capability to work under pressure, managing multiple priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and Tamil.
  • Go-getter, proactive, and gritty attitude.
