Job Highlights -

  • To be responsible for maintaining accurate and comprehensive patient treatment records in line with the organizational standards of practice
  • Ensure that your own practice meets the required professional standards of practice
  • To be accountable for all aspects of own work, including the management of patients in your care and to ensure a high standard of clinical care supporting other staff to do likewise
  • Ensures safety at discharge and continuation of progress by providing, home exercise programs, family/caregiver instruction, recommendations for assistive equipment and recommendations for continued therapy in a less restrictive setting
  • Formulate accurate prognoses and recommend best course of intervention, developing comprehensive discharge plans, liaising with doctors/ consultants as appropriate
  • To represent department / colleagues internally and externally regarding speech and swallowing services in their clinical field
  • Assessment principles to clinical practice
  • To manage clinical risk within own patient caseload
  • Good team working skills combined with understanding of and commitment to multidisciplinary working
  • Acts independently and continually reassesses patients making highly skilled evaluations and decisions regarding treatment options within group and individual work in order to progress treatments and management strategies effectively
  • Assesses the client’s functional abilities, including physical, emotional, cognitive and sensory components to evaluate the necessity of skilled occupational therapy inventions
  • To work as an independent clinical professional with knowledge and skills, problem solving and clinical reasoning in a specialist area
  • To demonstrate highly developed dexterity, co-ordination and palpatory senses for assessments and manual treatment of patients
  • Applying interventions to maximize safety and performance in activities of daily living (ADL) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADL)
  • Helps the client achieve goals set forth in the treatment plan by providing neuromuscular re-education, therapeutic activity, self-care/home management training, and sensory integration techniques, wheelchair management, and wound care
  • Constantly update knowledge & practical skills in the field of Physiotherapy, ergonomics and rehabilitation
  • Helping patients recover from accident, illness or injury
